OUR 2024 MATCH: This year Teach My People has $37,000 in MATCHING FUNDS. We’d love your support in helping us double our match through your donation to continue our ministry overall.

SPECIAL MATCH REQUEST: $6,700!

We offer a hot dinner to all students at TMP (204 students), Monday through Friday, throughout the school year. This Summer we were informed that our food resource would not be providing food to our program. After much research and a LONG grant process, we were granted food to support our program directly through the state! With TMP now serving three communities, Pawleys Island, Georgetown and Andrews, TMP has a BIG NEED to open a second cooking kitchen to deliver meals, hot to each campus. TMP was able to secure a commissary kitchen in Andrews. TMP's yearly rent for this new kitchen is $5,000 and a one-time equipment cost of $5,000.

Our Executive Director, David Hammel rode in the 2024 Tour de Plantersville Cycle Race to raise money for TMP's NEW Hot Meal Program! The money we raised for this event we would like to MATCH during our Coastal Giving Tuesday Event.

Why is the Food Program So Important to the Students of TMP?

“What is one of the most prominent obstacles hindering the child's learning process? Hunger! Chronic hunger can prevent students from making the most of a formal education, no matter how hard they try to ignore its effects. The sad truth is that hunger can have physical and psychological effects on young people that make learning substantially difficult. Food is the fuel necessary to get through a normal day. Calories in food provide energy to carry out regular day-to-day activities. Without an adequate amount of this energy, students may fall asleep in school or lack the energy to pay attention to an entire day of classes." - 2014 Borgen Report With food security being an issue for some families, Teach My People feeds our students a healthy snack each day and dinner each night before they head home. During our summer program, we provide a healthy breakfast and lunch to our students daily
