Teach My People started in 1999 as a Christ-centered, academically focused afterschool and summer program for elementary school students in need attending Waccamaw Elementary School.

In 2004 the Teach My People Center was constructed on Waverly Road, serving 30 elementary school students. After seeing the need of following our students beyond elementary school, in 2006, TMP started adding a new grade each year until we reached through high school in 2013.

In addition, in 2006 the Board of Directors created the closed enrollment model, meaning we welcome a brand new first grade class of 10 students each year and follow them until they graduate high school.

Since 2013, TMP has had the honor of witnessing 26 students graduate high school, five alumni graduate college, 12 alumni currently attending college and two alumni serving in the military.

Teach My People Georgetown opened the fall of 2019 to serve students from McDonald Elementary School. In our first year we are serving the first and second grade from McDonald Elementary School - a class of 10 students each grade.
